M6 Owners >> your car creep?

okay, just curious if this is normal and if not what is wrong.


if im at almost a dead stop, (like 1 or 2 mph) and gently let of clutch my car will idle at 1k and slowly creep forward just like an auto does. every other manual ive driven would stall if i did this.

this normal with our cars, or do i have clutch problems. its done it since ive owned it

i can do it in my celica as well. its just the way the manual tranny works, the clutch plate grabs the engine and speeds the tranny up so there is no grinding. so what u are doing is just gettin the tranny up to speed and slowly takin off....

Perfectly normal...you can even let it out all the way. The LT1 has more than enough torque even at idle to get the car moving in first gear. I do it every day from a dead stop in stop and go traffic without ever touching the gas. Just can't dump the clutch...nice and easy.

Yeah it has a lot to do with the fact the torque combined with the gear size.

like some of the others I do it all the time in city traffic. I could never do it in my old escort because there just wasn't enough power.

sweet_ ya i live in rochester ny right now and have to do it with traffic. first car though ive been able to let clutch out fully without it stalling.

My LT1 wouls idle in all of the gears. I could let off the clutch from a dead stop very slowly and it would idle in 1st then I could shift from 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-6. You just gotta give it enough time to for it to pull itself back to 1000rpms. I would idle in 6th @ 35ish mph.

yeah as long as you let it out slowly and let it get to idle again before you shift it wont stall...ive gone up to 4th gear doing that ahaha

actually shows your clutch has life left in it. if it was a beat clutch it would just stall

haha I just did it today all the way to 6th with out even touching the gas. It kinda didnt like 6th so I went back into 5th. Thats cool. Thanks.

Yep, normal....remember that our cars have a little more torque than the average honda, so when you ease off the clutch, it has enough torque to creep w/out touching the throttle. Your at the early stages of clutch engagment (sp?)

Are the V6's (3.8L) able to do that also? Or don't they have enough torque?
