LT1 Wipers = Sucky

Ive heard this is a common problem so I searched for it. But The wipers dont fully contact the windshield. I got autozone Anco ones that say 22-24 for camaro/firebird 93-97. They sucked, so I got some at the dealership *i still get my discount there * And they have the same crap. The drivers side is much worse than passenger side. Half the drivers side doesnt even touch the window. Ive heard of bending the wiper arm in a specific place to try to correct this, or would you bend the actual blade? I cant seem to get it to work right.

Mine does this also, and it makes it dangerous to drive. My wiper makes contact with the window completely when it is down, but when it starts to move the motor shifts or something and only the top half of the wiper works.

I found exactly the opposite of you. I tried every brand I could finad and the Anco's were the only ones that worked. As a matter of fact, I just had some more Anco's shipped to me here in Germany.

Mine does that too, but considering I only drove my car in the rain once and that was the day I bought it and drove it home, I forgot about the problem and never investigated it. It does have some old crummy no-name wipers on there so that will be a start.. if I remember to fix the problem this time around.

My car didn't wipe the pass. side window at all really. The car had Anco wiper heads on it when I got it. I went to a salvage yard and got new arms with gm heads on them and now the windows wipe perfectly.

Hrm. The ones that were on the car say AC Delco on em but they suck [edit] too. I'd get blade refills for it or whatever but the stupid little clips that go on the hook are gone I havent had to drive it in snow/rain yet but the other day it snowed and I know i wouldnt be able to see crap. ya even when its down the blade isnt touching on the drivers side, its curled up

My problem isn't the blade, I've tried different blades and all have the same result. I've tried it and they all work on the passenger side, but not the driver side. You can see it when the wiper blade starts to turn the motor actually shifts, I can't remember up or down at the moment. I thought it was the blade at first but you can actually see the part the wiper arm attaches to shift. If you run the blade by yourself by using your hands to make it wipe it does it's job correctly. I guess a bolt or nut or something is loose on the motor.

I'd try to fix it but I don't have a garage and it's always cold or raining anymore and that doesn't work out with working on the car.

More than likely the springs on the wiper arm are the culprit. I have had good luck with Anco specific '93-'97 Camaro/Firebird blades and just recently bought Trico blades that are working well (got them at Advance auto parts). Since you have tried the different blades try replacing the wiper arm springs.

Would you be able to buy just the wiper arm springs or would you have to buy the whole arm?

I used trico blades last time, no luck.

Just to make sure it's not me, does the part the wiper arm attaches to shift for everyone when it turns? Mine does this only on the driver side, the passenger side stays in position and turns, while the driver shifts.

Hmm. I'll look into that I'm about to go change out the Thermostat and I'll look at it... But anyone else having issues with the Hook being backwards? *IE facing away from the windshield* Even when in the rested position, half of the drivers side isnt resting on the window because its binding up on the arm because of the reverse hook

The drivers side wiper arm mounts to an aluminum bracket thats held in place by 2-3, 10mm nuts and bolts. I'd suggest you try tightening those up first. The motor is held in place by 2 rubber bushings and 1 bolt with rubber washers on the other end. If your motor is loose you can usually hear it rock back and forth in place. Its very difficult to get the bushings in the cowl back in place correctly if the motor is removed.

I went with Proline 24D's and that instantly corrected that problem...

Mine wouldn't wipe right in front of me, so I got the Trico's a few days ago and they work great.
