LT1 swap for LS1
Re: LT1 swap for LS1
yeah you will need the computer and such from the LS1 car. Also the bolt holes for the LT1 are different from the LS1 ,so you'll have to find a company that has an adaptor to mount the engine or take out the frame part that the engine bolts to (sorry my mind refuses to remember the name) There maight e a few other small things you need, Oh yeah the bellhousing for the trans is also different, so if you can get the one from the LS1 you'll be in better shape. Some say the engine will not clear the stock hood, but I've seen pictures of them fitting.
Re: LT1 swap for LS1
the standard LS1 intake will not fit under the hood, but the engine should...i mean both LT1 and LS1 use the same strut tower brace...so why wouldnt it fi.
check into painless wiring, they sell the engine swap harness...could be helpful

Re: LT1 swap for LS1
You'll need an entire transmission. The LS1 style T56 uses a different style throwout bearing and bellhousing than the LT1 T56. The entire face of the trans is slightly different.
Honestly, I would sell your car and look for a LS1 car with a blown motor. It would be a simple swap then.

Re: LT1 swap for LS1
or just one with working motor, then swap it out and sell that one.
that way you don't hve to worry about all the beating the rest of the car took....considering it has a blown motor....
plus it's probably easier to find running cars in the color and options you want than it is to find one with a bad motor.
grandma probably didn't blow a motor driving to get groceries...know what i mean.

True, True!Or, you could sell your current car, and the LS1 motor you have, take the $$ and buy a nice low mile all original LS1 car.
Any way you look at it, it's going to require a whole mess of parts to convert your LT1 car to LS1. The fuel systems are different, the cooling systems are different, the electrical systems are differt, the transmissions are different. You are openning up a huge "can of worms".
