Lt1 Accessory Bracket removal.

Looks like I stripped the Power Stearing bolts.

I am trying to remove the accessory bracket with a min of fuss.

I have removed the idler pulley and alternator.
From reading an earlier post, I think I can remove and hang the AC compressor.

That leaves the PS pump.

Anybody know if I can getaway without disconnecting the PS.

OR

Can I re tap the bracket while in the car.

For those that retapped the bolt holes, what did you use.

I was thinking helicoil.

Any other suguestions

Thanks

I have a stripped PS bolt on mine as well, but have been putting off fixing it. I would try using a tap first, you might be able to straighten out the threads enough. Then blow the shavings out with compressed air. Don't think you can move the PS pump without disconnecting it, so I would try it with the pump on and see what happens.

both of the holes for the ps ump were stripped out on my car when I got it, my dad and I figured that since we would be taking it off to tap it or helicoil it, I figured I would just get another one off of ebay. Really wasn't that hard to replace, and had to replace the ps pump anyways, but to remove the bracket you do need to disconnect the pump, and the a/c compressor will just hang there.
