LS1 stock oil pump-failure?

Who has had problems with the oil pump in the stock LS1? I was searching around a local website for parts, I stumbled upon the "S" brand oil pump. I do not have a lot of experience with the LS1, so the ad made me nervous. I have heard of certain Street Legal performance companies "hyping" up part descriptions to aid in sales. Ex--WOT voltage booster--"Stock system falls short..." -ignition.

This is the oil pump description...
Stock LS1 oil pumps have been known to fail without provocation, causing extensiveÐnot to mention expensiveÐengine damage in the process. To prevent this, we have developed a ported-and-blueprinted pump that is virtually bulletproof under even the most severe racing conditions. We have so much confidence in this unit, we've made it an integral part of our 382- and 427-cube stroker packages. Surprisingly affordable, it's an ideal complement to our Double Roller LS1 Timing Chain (#55000).

Any help? Comments? I was thinking of looking up campaigns for the LS1 at the Chevy dealer.

Save yourself some future frustration and get yourself an LS6 oil pump or SLP's oilpump. Both are around $150.

From what I have heard , ...
only the '98's were prone to this.

I glanced thru, and did not see any bulletins - double check me here:

Seems like it had something to do w/ the casting being rough where the releif spring was, and it would stick open & not allow pressure to build.

FYI - GM specs are for lile 7 pis @ 1000 - see here ! .

I would not be paranoid - just keep an eye on the gauge.

My .02.
