LS1 F bod VS. Grand National, who wins
LS1 F bod VS. Grand National, who wins
OK i was wondering because my buddy brought it up who would win, a 98-02 F Bod LS1 Vs a stock Grand National? does anyone have the specs of all the cars? thanks sorry. i know the LS1s are like what mid 13's? or high 13's? stock, thanks correct me if i am wrong.
86-87 grand nationals ran anywhere from 13.8 to 14.2 stock. they would run with an lt-1 but be murdered by an ls1 since a few of those have kissed 12's stock. a better place to find info on grand nationals would be turbobuick.com. i'm a member there, and i know of a few other guys on here that are members.
now if youre talking mod for mod, i think the gn wins to high 10's, then ls1's start to get faster per dollar.
unless there is a proven combo to get ls1 f-bod's into mid 11's for $1500 or less.... i'm not sure.

Converter, Spray, Drag radials. Done...
Don't get me wrong though, I LOVE GN's. My first car was a GN, and it felt like nothing else. Matter of fact, that rush of boost feeling is precisely why I'm currently tearing apart a perfectly good 11 second f-body so I can add twins to it
I can't even imagine what it will feel like when done, but I'm getting there slowly.

i guess i didnt take nitrous into the mix..
my second car was a homebuilt turbo regal.. took an '87 motor and tranny, and put it in an '84 that came with a carbed 3.8. never again will i do that lol. had to change all the wiring, fuel lines, gas tank, fuse block, speedo gear.. god it was an awful mess, but it ran right next to a 911 carrera (non turbo) to 140, and he got the jump.
buicks are my first love, grand nationals, i have learned, have a very nasty reputation, its always pretty difficult to tell the difference from a 10 second ground pounder from a high 13 second stock one.
Not knocking Grand Nationals, but what irks me is I've talked to a couple people who either have/had one, or they "knew somebody" who has/had one that ran ~11's, so they automatically proclaim "they're an 11-second car ... yours wouldn't stand a chance
". Well hello meat-head, they're maybe an 11-second car AFTER doing work to them, but (if you guys are stating true times for GN's) they're ~13 / 14-second cars STOCK
.
Basically, I hate anybody that assumes that the fastest (modded) example of a car is the benchmark for which all of those cars are capable of running
. It's almost like a ricer trait
. Just because Evan Smith ran a 12.89 with an LS1 F-body doesn't mean I go around to the world bragging how they're all 12-second cars.

stock for stock, the LS1 is going to eat a GN, no question about it. I had one new from the dealer in 86, and it was a riot to drive. I now have a stock 02 SS, and a WAY not stock 95. The GN Pulled like a mother and "felt" faster than any car I've had since. Smooooooth power. It's very deceiving. My 95 will destroy any stock OR light/medium modded GN, but the GN will still feel faster due to the smooth power from the turbo instead of the sheer violence of my stroker motor.
A turbo car will make you feel like your goin faster than you are.
Stock for stock the LS1 would win, but add a little more boost and it's GN all the way 94, didn't do it because I couldn't keep my T56.
I was real close to putting a GN motor in my

^that post is a bit messed up.
i also hate how people use modded cars as a benchmark, and i hate when people think that gnx's came with twin turbos etc. the general public doesnt know jack **** about these cars, thats what makes it fun!
by the way, ours is capable of mid 10's, but hasnt run in a couple years due to time restraints.
its a built 4.1L buick block with a 4.000 inch bore, te63 turbo, 83lb/hr injectors etc.

my friend has a 86 t-type, and it is quite fast. They can be made fast for cheaper, but I think after u get into the motor of the LS1, the LS1 will win.
But, stock for stock, i think it would depend on the driver, GNs run low 13s, and LS1s run low 13s.
Add radials on both, it just depends if the LS1 is M6 or A4, because the GN can build boost on the launch.
My friends slighty modded GN keeps up w/ my friends 355, cc306, ported head, bolt on LT1, but I doubt it'll keep up w/ my 383 once I get everything sorted out between lloyd and bret

Seems like you need to STFU Adam!
For 1. Brent and I have NEVER raced! We dont even know who will win when we will, being he will have traction problems. Once I get the trans back in, I should be able to get high to mid 11's, being I will be able to build boost at the line since the converter will be a lot looser. Also, I wont be detonating, thank you alcohol injection kit from Alky-Control!
Also, You say you will doubt i will keep up once you get your 383 BS. You're not going to get half the crap you talk about. You lie about anything under the sun. IF you go 383, you even said yourself 'it'll be about 2-3 years' God knows it wont be this spring or even year.
Stop lieing about things you're going to get or buy.
Example, you post in many threads you have a 383 on stands. STOP LIEING!! You lie about everything and anything!!! It is ridiculous how much you lied after reading 3 different posts by you.
Liked stated before BRENT AND I HAVE NEVER RACED!!
Dont think I dont read these boards either kid. I only read to find stuff to see if you guys talk about Buicks here.
