Ls1

Okay iam an owner of a 1994 Z28, auto with 70000 miles. Now in the past few weeks ive been reading on an on about this legendary LS1 and how its so great. My car rated at 275 stock, i have a K&N FIPK an SLP LM, now is it really worth for me to go an look for a LS1? And are they that much greater? And what is the stock HP rating for an LS1, like plain Z28?

Re: Ls1

LS1's were factory rated at 305(?)HP but are underrated because most guys dyno 300 RWHP+ with the 6 speed so that puts you around 340-350 FWHP. Your LT1 will feel faster because of the torque down low in the RPM's but the LS1 is faster because holds it throughout the RPM range. The Z28 and SS are going to perform the same stock, with the SS MAYBE being .1 sec faster. LS1 also responds better to mods. I've had my LS1 for a little over a year now, wouldn't trade it for anything else. Do some searching on here and you'll find what you're looking for.

Re: Ls1

the heads and intake flow so much better on the LS1 it make a very cost effective car to mod.

a 230 cam on an LT1 with stock heads will probably get you 350rwhp

a the same on an LS1 and you're at about 400rwhp or more

Re: Ls1

Yeah, they are that much greater. And when it comes to modding, mod for the mod, the LS1 will still be ahead. As for selling your car and getting an LS1, that is up to you. It may be more cost effective just to build up and play with what you already have.

I'm not a big fan of the 98+ Camaro front end, but the 98+ TA is a whole different story.

And IMHO you're right.

The LS1s only saving grace is the fact that the engine is a big deal. Because it's looks sure as hell aren't doing anything for it.

Re: Ls1

Personally, I believe the ranking is as follows, based on appearance alone:

LS1 SS > LS1 Z28 > LS1 TA > LT1 TA > LT1 SS > LT1 Z28

I love them all, though.

Re: Ls1

Well i went out to the local GM dealer where they had a 02' Z28 sitting out front, nothing special. I looked at the RPO codes it was a 2.73 rear, yes it was an auto. but i asked the salesmen if i could take it out for a drive, said sure, but he came with me! therefore, i didnt have it past 4K.. so i didnt get the whole feel for the car. Gotta find another one lol.

Re: Ls1

The ls1's have their downfall: Piston Slap, Rod bearings, Noisy Valve train, Alloy Blocks.

LT1 SS > LT1 Z28 = LS1 TA > LT1 TA > LS1 SS > LS1 Z28

To take this equation even further

LS1 SS + LS1 Z28
- LS1

Re: Ls1

[QUOTE=kick Z tail out]LT1 SS > LT1 Z28 = LS1 TA > LT1 TA > LS1 SS > LS1 Z28

To take this equation even further

LS1 SS + LS1 Z28
- LS1

CORRCTION:
(LS1 SS + LS1 Z28) / LS1

there we go, good math right there.
