Ok i just did a few 120 MPH runs to do some freescan logs on Saterday,and noticed a faint sound I never herd befor.Now after driving it regular, just up to the gas station,im getting a extreamly loud knock and screetch sound like metal scraping against metal under the intake.Colapsed lifter?Im taking it all apart tomorrow ,its still to hot right now.

 

20 views and no clue huh?Yea same here lol.Ill know more in the morning after i pull valve covers and intake.

It sounds like its uptop and right below the intake. Not comming from below at all.Sounds like something scraping and knocking on something but getting good oil pressure ect.

 

If I were you, I'd investigate before all that metal from the suspected lifter ends up in your main bearings. Once you begin losing oil pressure, it means a complete rebuild of your engine. Right now you might be able to get away with just a lifter & cam replacement.

Stop driving and start wrenching to investigate.

 

Yup, its sat scince it happened.Had to drive it about a mile but babied it.If its worse than just replacing a lifter or something as easy, im selling it.Its a dd and cant afford to keep having things break down.I dont race it,or anything.Basicly just back and forth to work.

 

Took it all apart had someone tap the key and everything looked ok.Checked every lifter and pushrod.So its prob a rod.Great.Shes up for sale now lol.

 

Ok could it be timing chain or possibly the water pump?Just never herd a pump sound like a tap and squeek.I did notice it wanted to run hotter than normal when all this started.
