Loose steering wheel - help!
Loose steering wheel - help!
My 89 Iroc that I picked up yesterday has a few issues that need sorting out. Hopefully I'll be able to get the answers I need here.
The first order of business is fixing the loose steering wheel. Apparently, the car is a recovered stolen vehicle and it's missing the driver-side lock. The steering wheel on the car I think may be stock, but it has been messed with. The ignition could have even been toyed with (I imagine so) but I can't be sure.
Anyways, the steering wheel seems "loose" as it sits. It seems to jiggle around when you move it. It looks like the steering column may even possibly be part of this "jiggling" action.
My question is- can something like this just be tightened up? Or should I be in the market for a new steering wheel? Or even a new steering column?
Let me know. Thanks and sorry for the weird description!

Re: Loose steering wheel - help!
this is normal on an older third gen Camaro. yes it can be tightened up. there are 3 or 4 bolts down in the steering column that you can tighten back up to fix it,but its a pain in the @ss.
