I am currently in the market for a tech 1 scantool. I will only be using it for 1 vehicle and VERY occasionally. I have a 93 Camaro that I would like to scan and read each sensor. I would also like to be able to record the inputs from the sensors and hook it to a laptop. There are soooo many component options what all do I need?

Finally, is it possible to upgrade or use it on an 04 Suburban for the same thing?

A Tech 1 will cost a lot of money. There are much cheaper options out there. Injuneer has scanning info listed on his page.
I think they use newer "Tech" models for the newer vehicles.

 

Thanks for the ideas shoebox. I will look into them. As far as price though there is not a whole lot of difference. I see the Tech1's on ebay for less than $400. If I go with the Datamaster it would be $220. I guess I am still researching since I have a stepchild 93.
