Looking at a 94Z28.....

Im looking at a 1994 Z28 with 138k on it, car runs and drives good. Auto trans with 3.23 gears, K&N CAI and some sorta aftermarket peformance muffler on it..Paint is fair..interior is good grey cloth. Bad things are that at one time the car had been hit in the back and fixed. The 1/4 panels on the car didnt look to have the factory paint finish on them so i crawled underneath and saw that both rear frame rails have Kinks/Bends where it had been hit and repaired. I checked out the rear wheel gap and gaps around the rear hatch and body panels..everythere appears to be ok..as i compared them to a unwrecked camaro. The A/C is inoperable and the SES light is on and owner states the car needs an 02 sensor which he has for it. the price is 2500 firm. Car does have a clean title. Does this sound like an ok deal or should i just walk/run away from the car? thanks

The car has too many obvious warning signs that there is going to be future problems. If the car has suffered previous body damage and seeing as that the frame rails are bent, I would just walk on the deal. There are plenty of other unmolested f-bodies out there that can be had for a reasonable price.

I did not ask him how long he has had it. I asked him if he has ever done any work to the car and he said no....he really doesnt know how to work on cars..but his mechanic buddy said it needed an 02 sensor. We made him aware that the car had been hit and been repaired at one time..he said he did not know that. Thats what we were told anyways when we checked the car out...................

Like 2000GTP said, there's enough used Z28s for sale out there that you should consider passing on a car that's been rearended, unless he's giving you some awesome price. Bent/repaired frames always worries me. It's not like his car is a rare car to find.

Sounds like a lot of car for the money, but for a bit more money you could get a better car I'm thinking. Short term, probably a good buy but if you'll be keeping the car for a while, I'd keep looking.

Perhaps you should look at the prices of some on a reputable internet, like autotrader.com. You might be entertained to see what they list for. The first several 94's need engines and they want near what yours is going for. As far as wrecked in the back end, who cares. Is the frame repair after the axle? If so, then so what?

I would be more concerned about the code, never believe what the owner says. The other minor concern is the AC. Usually an easy fix.

Be aware, no matter what the Fbod looks like, when it's an LT1 and more than 10 years old, it will take some work. Usually constantly, to keep it on the road. If that's what you like, go for it.
