Long term storage - what to check
Barring any issues, I will be the proud owner of an ultra low mile 1996 SS that has been in storage most of it's life. It's being sold at a dealer, so it should hav e been gone over before it gets to me. I was wondering what specific areas I should pay attention to to keep this car running smoothly?
It will be a weekend/fair weather car, so it needs to be reliable. I'm having the dealer change out all the fluids, and it has brand new tires since the old ones rotted after 15 years. I'll condition the leather and all rubber seals, but other than that, what should I do before driving it? And by ultra low miles, it has 900 original miles completely 100% bone stock.
Thank you for your time!

Re: Long term storage - what to check
Congrats on such a rare find. I wouldn't worry too much since all the fluids are being changed but I would look at the calipers and make sure they are not frozen and change the serp belt also. You essentially have a new car.
Re: Long term storage - what to check
"All fluids".....gas tank, fuel filter, trans fluid, rear end, radiator/Dexcool, brake fluid, clutch master cylinder? New battery. Might be suspicious of fuel pump if issues develop.
What number is this SS?
Good for you.....great find. Enjoy your new car.
