lightweight AC compressor

It is under my impression that all car ac compressors work pretty much the same? So what if you took a compressor off say a civic or geo metro and and installed a smaller pulley on it like the "AC Delete Pulley." Fabbed up a few brackets and boom lightweight AC.

Is it possible?
What would be the holdup? Wiring, AC hose routing..?

Re: lightweight AC compressor

For the price and weight savings involved you'd be better off looking somewhere else on the car for weight savings or just remove the AC altogether. If you just switch the compressor you MIGHT save a few pounds (with lots of custom work ), if you take the compressor, condensor, evaporator, and lines out there will actually be a measurable difference.
