Leaky water pump...

Anyway, I found that my water pump was leaking today. I can't tell exactly where from, I can just see coolant forming on the bottom of it.

Is there a way to tell if the pump is actually bad? Or do people normally just replace them? I have a 98Z with 65k miles on it so it's not like the water pump is ancient. Any tips or install guides would be appreciated...

My WP went out at 33k miles, was replaced under warranty. It's a weak part on our cars. Best replace yours ASAP.

Theres a little weephole on the bottom of the pumps. If it leaks, it indicates a bad internal seal inside the pump. It will need to be replaced if you dont want to keep losing coolant.

Yup, I'm replacing it. Sucks that there are so many weak parts surrounding the LS1 on our cars...

Anyway, anyone know of any install guides for doing this? There's a bunch of crap in the way looking from the top and the bottom so it looks like it'll be fun. I'm guessing to buy a pump, a gasket, and some gasket gunk, would that be all I need?

And some coolant for whatever you lose during the process.

Sorry, didn't mean it as an insult, but we all know what it is like to be in the middle of a job and how easy it is to forget the small things.
