Key Stuck in Ignition

[sorry-in-advance if this has been addressed already]

sometimes, when I shut the car off, my key won't pull out of the ignition. it won't turn to the "remove key" position, and if I apply pressure my car makes a beep. I'm assuming that it's the PassKey system kicking in for some reason unknown. if I let the car run for a few minutes the key usually comes right out. any ideas on what's going on?

Re: Key Stuck in Ignition

The only thing that I can think of is that the little resistor thing is moving in and out of your key. Is it loose?

Re: Key Stuck in Ignition

That does not sound like a pass-key problem. It sounds more like your ignition switch or its actuator rod are binding up on something.

Re: Key Stuck in Ignition

Had that problem in my 2001 Camaro. Dealer had to replace the ingnition switch. There was nothing wrong with the key. The switch itself had broken inside.
