Key fob range

What should be the range of my key fob? I have to be right next to the door for it to work. I have seen people with other vehicles operate them from 100 feet. Any info? Is this normal?

for the factory ones 100ft is pretty darn good. lots can affect the range: weather, electronic interference, walls, trees... battery strength. Key Fobs get alot of abuse though, replace the battery and see.

The best mine ever did was about 10 feet. I have seen a lot of the ones on newer cars go 50-100 feet. Is there anything I can do to increase the sensitivity other than changing the battery?

mine's always been about 15 ft, and I changed the battery when I got the car in 99...

So I'm guessing ours are only god for 10-15 ft...

I have a similar post in the Electronics forum. Our '95's range is about 2 feet. It's awful.
