hey it was free..so who's complaining? Eventually I plan on ripping the engine out and putting a 350 in it...but before i do that, I have to save up some money. So in the mean time, I'd like to know of some quick improvement I can make for the time being.

Why is it the first question some people ask after aquiring 3rd or 4th gen car with a 305 carb/tbi or v6 is how to increase the Horsepower?? You have a low powered car from GM that met there mileage requirements and they were NEVER ment to be performance cars. Second thought, you can dump a boatload of money on them and make the same as a stock 350.

I think the 92 was a nice looking car, and the first (and last) to get an actual performance 350 if you were lucky. Pre LT1 and LS1, of course.
Personally, I would modify the things that would certainly carry over, namely the suspension. LCAs, shocks, rear end, etc. Perhaps even the tranny if you can afford it. Then when the 350 arrives, the rest of the vehicle is ready for it.
I still remember when a friend put a 92 350 in the ditch trying to go sideways in a corner. He went a bit too much, IMHO. Never told the girlfriend owner, either.

It probably depends on your definition of performance. In 92, they had one special performance package that was outstanding. Hard to find, but nice.
I rode in one, and it seemed to be the precursor to the LT1 afa performance. In the era of fuel economy, it was very peppy. IDK the actual performance specs, but the testing magazines seemed very refreshed that a "performance" car was finally being offered again. Then came the LT1, and we all know how that went.

I like edelbrock headers, cataltic converter test pipes, flowmaster cat back exhaust kits. The put in some 3.42's with a posi. Car that sounds mean and leaves the line pretty hard. Focus the rest of the money on making it look good because just about everything else is a waste of money. That will set u up for a real motor later
