Just finished striping inside of car
wow what a differance.but a hassle to.was fun though.i live in sac so its about a 100 right now so i was sweatn my *** off.well its down to bare metal with only the to front seats in.Gone sell the interior parts later this week.also need some help.i cant get the rubber mat that runs down the fire wall on the inside of the car.it runs behind the dash and runs down under the pedals.dont wanna cut it up but seems thats all i can do unless i need it.
Re: Just finished striping inside of car
not striping.lol.i removed all the plastics, rugs and stuff that weighted the car down.probably didnt do much but any thing helps with these monsters.just got the front seats.
Re: Just finished striping inside of car
Well, as long as you are gutting anything and everything that could weigh the car down, why not get rid of the rear hatch, hood, bumpers and doors while you are at it? You could sell those too.
Are you building a track-only race car? Heck, even most f-body race cars I see still have their interiors mostly intact. There are guys going pretty damn fast with full interiors. Stripping the interior out of a car is such a "ricer" thing to do these days... Unless of course your car is back-halfed with a 4-link and slicks running in the 8's.

wow. Enjoy! You are definitly "one of a kind" there.
Re: Just finished striping inside of car
I'm surprised at all the slams, i say to each his own. Have you weighed everything to see how much you dropped? I can't imagine the interior weighing that much. I think the carpet with padding is like 45-50lbs. All the plastic, i wouldn't think would be more than 10-15lbs on the high side. Honestly, i'd be surprised if it was more than 100lbs total. Am i too far off with this guess?
Personally, i'd look for other things to remove before i gutted the interior, but mine's still a daily driver too.
If shear weight loss is what you're after, go for the a/c system next and think about one of those half-size dry cell batteries. The battery alone should be good for 30-35lbs.
As far as your question hidden in there, after gutting the car, who cares? Just cut the bitch out. However, before you go any farther, check with the rule book for whatever it is you want to race it in before you go hacking crap up.
