A few times over the past few days, I've got in my '95 camaro and turned the ignition switch and nothing came on, no dash lights, radio, or the starter. The windows and door locks wouldn't even work. The headlights and dome light still worked though, it looked like the +12v ignition circuit went out. I checked all my fuses and they were fine. I got it back working after I cleaned all my battery connections, including the ones on the red junction box.

Yesterday, when I got in the car again I had the same problem and I rechecked all the battery cables and it didn't help. I took the panels off from under the steering column and wiggled the wiring harness and my 12v ign power came back on. I was up under the dash just now trying to find a lose connection and noticed theres a connector on top of the steering column that is hot as hell and the wires coming out of it are pretty hot for about 3 inches leading out of the connector. I wiggled the wires behind this connector and my 12v ign power would flicker on and off.

I don't have my haynes manual here at work so I figured I'd post this hoping someone could give me an insight as to why this connector got so hot. I'm assuming it's the ignition switch and it looks easy to replace, but I'd like to know what got it to heat up like this. I did a search and couldn't find much information specific to my problem.

Probably on top of your ignition switch. It's a common hot spot. Look through the pics on my website of the ignition switch replacement how to and you will see.
