Interior Light Problems

Yesterday When I Was Leaving For Work I Got In My Car And The Interior Lights Would NOT Turn Off, The Mirror Lights And My Rear Inside Light Also. I Shut Every Door And The Hatch Twice, Wasnt That. Then I Figure My Instrument Gage Dimmer Was On All The Way, But It Wasnt That Either. So I Drove To Work With Them On, When I Got There I Got Out, Set My Alarm,And the lights finnaly turned off. Then I Walked 10 Feet Away And My Alarm Went Off? So I Disengaged The Alarm, Then My Interior Lights Wouldnt Go Off Again, So I Unplugged The Mirror And The Rear Light, Just To Get Them To Shut Off So My Battery Wouldnt Drain While I Was At Work. Any Suggestions On What Is Going On?
And Also It Has Been Raining Where I Live Non Stop For 2 Weeks Now, Does That Have Anything To Do With It? Just Hoping I Dont Have Water Damage

Re: Interior Light Problems

Maybe a door switch is jammed or damaged...although I don't know if arming the alarm would make them go off if the switch is bad/jammed.

Re: Interior Light Problems

As stated above, it's one of the doors pin switch's.

I suspect a bad ground, loosen the pin and clean all the contacts.

Re: Interior Light Problems

The door pins work by shorting to ground. One of them may be stuck in the grounded position, or water/rust has grounded one of them. I also had a similar problem when a wire for the rear hatch light switch (behind the soft liner in the rear hatch well) got crushed against the sheet metal, and shorted to ground. You should be able to turn the lights off temporarily by pulling the fuse. Unfortunately, that fuse also powers the radio and the hatch release.
