Inter cooled BORLA

Does anyone know the point of the "intercooled" tips on the borla system I tried their website and found nothing. They chose a technical name intercooled for a reason of what though to cool te exhaust? Why so i dont burn myself when trying to hug my exhaust? mmm Maybe borla makes such good stuff people wanna hug it.

Re: Inter cooled BORLA

I don't think there is anything technical about the tips, they just put a fancy name on them to sell more, and by the way hooker>corsa>borla simply because it sounds great and you can get 2 of them for the cost of one of those. Its not stainless but i've driven it through a wisconsin winter and there is hardly any rust at all on it.

Re: Inter cooled BORLA

I like my borla just fine, it came with the car when i bought it but still. The iea of the intercooled exhaust is to keep the exhaust colder to keep the same sounding exhaust tone where the hotter the temps get the range of the tone will change. Thats what i could find on it...my exhaust tone never changes so maybe its true? might be a marketing gimmick as well...million mile warranty kicks *** though for sure.

Re: Inter cooled BORLA

Yea i agree with s3guilt. Million mile warranty kicks A$$. i can only see corsa being better on a LS1 and Borla sounding better on a LT1. Although i never seen or heard a corsa system on a LT1..
it would be great if there was an actual water flow through the tips to actually be "intercooled"
Gotta love the adjustable cat back 2

maybe send Borla an email reagrding the question you have to find the real truth behind this...i sure would like to know

Borla > Hooker/"Rust"master on LT1

Re: Inter cooled BORLA

rust master, lol i do like the corsa and the borla i just decided to be cheap, i was set on geting the corsa but i ended up with the hooker, i'm storing my car for the winter now so i don't really need to worry about the rust. My honda can rust instead

Re: Inter cooled BORLA

I think what Borla meant by the Exhaust temp effecting sound was they were making a point that bigger isnt better. What ever they meant by that. I allways thought a 426 hemi was better than a 392 ?? Who wants cold exhaust?
I did email Borla about their intercooled fancy tips (personally i like the stock ones fine) so i will let y'all know what lame technical fancy mumbojumbo they come up with. I love you Borla seriously. i will name my kid after you.............

Re: Inter cooled BORLA

The tips exit close to the plastic bumper. Could be to keep it from melting. Just a thought. I really don't know how hot the tips can get.

Hmm...good point! Other than that, Borla will mostly likly relate it to a performance issue

Re: Inter cooled BORLA

The intercooling refers to the fins around the inside of the ehxaust tip, there are holes on the sides of the tip which let air in.

Does it matter if the tips are cooled? I dont think it makes a difference at all

Re: Inter cooled BORLA

HAHA, that is just a guess really

im sure they would have sold ya on the performance part of it, which probably is insignificant

I think the idea is to cool the tips, exhaust gasses will naturally flow to a cooler temp, But i doubt that it makes any difference

Correct! I spoke to Borla directly about it, they told me this, AND it helps the Chrome surface not yellow or blue from heat, since the inner pipe, and fins take the majority of the heat...I have a set of Dual Angle Cut Intercooled ones on mine, Set me back like $150 but ooo well....
