Instrument cluster question

I have a 1997 digital odometer cluster that needs to go into a 2001 car with 101K. The 97 has 127K. If I plug in the 97 cluster will it read 101K or 127K? If it displays the 127K can I switch out the odometers between the clusters? Thanks in advance for your help!

No it will read the 127k, but I don't think the 97 cluster is compatible with any other year it will only work in 97 car. where as a 98-02 cluster will only work in those years and will not work in a 97. I believe this is due to the 97 being obd1 and 98-02 being ob2.

Does that make a 1997 3800 cluster incompatable with a 2001 3800 cluster?
