Installing engine from the top? 94Z LT1.

Hey guys. I'm just curious as to how hard it would be to install the engine from the top on my Z. I don't have ready access to a lift to drop the cradle and raise the car up. Looks like I gotta try and get this thing shoe-horned in from the top if I want to get it put in anytime soon. How difficult is this going to be?

Not sure about doing it from the top but I was able to get the car high enough using two jacks. I wedged blocks of lumber on top of the jacking pad to get it high enough.

I put mine in through the top with no problems. Took it out with the trans still attached, and put it back in the same way. Had to remove the hood though. I actually prefer it, but everyone is different.

Well that gives me hope lol. The only thing I'm really concerned with by installing it through the top is not breaking the oil sending unit lol and maybe getting any lines/wires snagged/ripped/torn.

What year is your car? On my early 94 engine the oil pressure sending unit is right by the driver side header making it hard to break. I'm assuming that you have the 94.5+ engine where its by the EGR. I'd remove it if it looks like it's going to get in the way. Main thing is to know what your going to do before you do it- stay organized. Also you can wire tie all your loose connections to the sides if your worried about stuff getting tangled.
