Induction question
Induction question
OK, as far as my intake system goes i just got a Moroso CAI. i need a little more go like ASAP for very little cash. To make a long story short there is a kid where a bunch of us car kid's hang out and he got a one fast civic ( i know i know, but beieve me it got *****) i raced him and beat him by like 1/3 of a car length and he was pissed cuz he never lost and wants to go again. i have a feeling he did some minor tunning and could edge me out if we raced. SO i want to do some mods i can just bolt up easily and that will give me a little extra go. Here is my idea:
1. Custom Ram Air mod ( under car scoop thing)
2. Ported MAF end's. Just the housing, from thunder racing
3. Trickflow Intake elbow
4. 58 MM throttle body (anyone selling one?) OR a Air Foil
5. air temperature module http://www.rksport.com/product/p_010963010/view_detail Or re-mount it closer to the actually intake filter.
6. Programmed PCM from PCMFORLESS
What do you think of this? Good/Bad? ANY other idea's? i am going to do this like ASAP cuz i can't loose to this *** with a civic.
The main reasnon i hate him is because he is a little bitch who get's his parents to pay for EVERYTHING! i hate that......
P.S i am going to later down the road do a HOT cam, headers, 3,200converter, 3.73's, tranny cooler, Ported Intake Manifold, and some suspension mod's. sound good? Let me know please

2. Don't waste your money
3. Good for a few HP, buy the plug thing from thunder for about $30
4. Don't need one untill you are making about 400 at the wheels
5. Maybe good for a few
6. Your best idea yet. Should get you at least 10. When I did headders, I dynoed it and got 30 RWHP from the tune.
The most price efficient mods I would say would be the following:
Tuning
LCA's. These helped my traction alot!
With these things, you should still be under $250. (If you get your tuning from Madz28, he's a little cheaper).
If you have more $$ you obvously have more options. I'm just trying to go with the cheapest and most effective.
PS, I think those clear corners are slowing you down a bit
get a cutout welded into your exhaust 30 dollars for part and anywhere from 20-90 bucks for weld up at a shop. Then get a tune from madz28.com and you will be smoking that stupid civic.
And if you are going from a dig then get some bfg or nitto drag radials.

the only thing worth any power on your list is the tuning...
forget about everything else for now...you wont gain anything.
the relocation of the iat isn't a bad idea and is really cheap. but the SLP unit can cause knock on upper rpms...which will hurt your performance.
i agree with the cutout though.

on a side note...
the order you have those mods listed in the poll on your website is basically the order you should do them. EXCEPT move the tune to after the gears/converter, replacing the LT4 intake and 58mm TB.
the lt4 intake will not bolt to lt1 heads without machining, and there is almost nothing to be gained from it anyway. the lt4 heads are what flowed better and they needed a different manifold to mate up to it...that's the difference.

OK, i got 500 bucks exactly (counted some change
)
I am deffinitly going to do a PCM tune no matter what. What is the LCA's? lower control arm's? if that is what i am thinking, how hard is a instillation on them? I ma going tot ake out as much as i can to shave some wieght. i spun a lot, and i got 11's out back with pretty new toyo's, what PSI would be good?

yeah...you say you did 14.2 at almost 99mph...
TRACTION my friend...
that speed should be good for mid to high 13s i think with traction.
DEFINATELY look into lower control arms (LCAs), and maybe relocation brackets. the lca bolt in with 4 bolts....it's almost more hassle to jack the car up than to swap the arms.
the brackets i think need to be welded in, although bolt on versions are available i think through BMR.
i would consider maybe putting a polyurathan torque arm mount in as well. it's like $15 and easy to install and will firm up the launch by allowing less axle twist
as for the tires...are you running 315s or 275s on the 11" rims? i would say 28psi should be sufficient to get decent traction.
