i have to get a new one since it cracked and it barely goes around the throttle body. but why does the stock ones have a long piece of plastic going to the bottom which doesnt co nnect to anything? is it ok if i take it off and seal it?

yes it is ok to take it off and seal it. It is an air silencer that is all.

if you're getting a new one and don't want that long plastic piece that hangs down on it, you can get an 1le intake elbow because it doesn't come with the long plastic piece attached to it.

I replaced mine which was messed up with a Trick flow. They look very good and no silencer on it.
