well im new here and i gotta start off by saying that im not a good typer so please bare with me. thanks

ok i bought a 1994 z28 from my buddy for 2000.00, it was hit up front before and when he got it fixed he replaced everything with 2001 camaro ss stuff.

now, the car was looking real good outside but still had the 1994 interior in it so he decided to change that too, it know has all blacl leather seats and the 2001 dashboard in it. it looks sweet!

question is, the dashboard does not work and they ruined the wiring harness back there. i removed the harness and was gonna replace it with a 1997 harness since the 1997 car has the new dash and still has the LT1 motor.

am i correct? what do i need to make this all work the right way?

i love this car and want to fix everything the right way, ill get some pics up soon and let you all see the car inside and out.

You will need an instrament cluster from a 1997 car in order for it to work.

In 1997, they used the new dash, but still had the LT1. This is the ONLY cluster that will work for you.


Maybe you can go to a junkyard and cut the guage harness off a totalled LT1 car? Then splice yours back together by matching the colors?

 

my harness was so butcherd that i just took the whole thing out and was gonna get a dash harness and a instrument cluster from a 1997 car.

ya know every 97 car i seen in the junkyard doesnt have the dash or that portion of the wiring, there must be a lot of people doing this swap.

but even though the instrument clusters appear to be the same, ( the 97 and the 01 ) they wont interchange huh?

well i`ll have to for sure check on the cluster too then i was gonna try to use mine.

anybody else here got any ideas?

outta all of you on here only two people have ever tried this before? come on now i know better that that.

thanks alot for posting that link there, i dont like the wheels either, well i located the harness today, its comming from ohio and its all from a 1997 automatic z28 i got the instrument cluster, ecm, and the complete interior wiring harness.

i hopefully will have in front of me by friday its comming ups cod.
if i do get it friday it should be installed by no later that sunday, ill keep you all posted of the outcome, wish me luck.

 

so i started the 1997 wiring project today, after 4 hours and a complete interior rewire the car wont start, but it does have all kinds of cool stuff now.

i already had power doors and such but now i have drl, auto headlights, the monsoon system, and the digital dash.

it wont crank over because i have to bypass the pats system because the yard that i got the parts from didnt have the keys for my car.

oh yea did i mention that its also obd2 now?
i got the pcm the bcm the instrument cluster and the whole wiring harness from a totaled 1997 slp camaro with 35000 miles on the odometer.

hopefully i will have it running tomorrow, ill post pics when its done.
