I have the steering column out in the garage, and replaced the igition switch. I tested it out, but noy my damned key is stuck in the "on" position. Whats wrong? Is it the tumbler?

 

Did you get the switch adjusted properly?

Try taking the rod off the switch and see if the key/tumbler moves freely.

 

The switch is off and its still stuck. Have a guide on pulling the steering wheel to replace the cylinder? Also, can I bypass the VATS when I get a plain key?

 

No guide for the key cylinder. Yes you can bypass VATS. Info on my website.

 

Thanks! I found the bypass diagram. The ignition lock/cylinder is apparantely bad and will need replacing. I got the airbag off but I need a steering wheel puller. I have a guy coming tomorrow to the house for $40 to pull the steering wheel and put the new cylinder in for me. I'm getting into some unknown territory with this and would rather have an experienced person do this part for me.
