ignition switch?

sometimes my car won't do anything when i turn the key, it will eventually start after a few attempts. it has a new optima yellow top battery, new 300 amp altenator, & new prostarter from jegs. i have a stereo system that has 500 watts rms. hopefully it's not killing everything. anyone have suggestions?

Probably the easy way of knowing whether your stereo system is causing starting/charging issues is to disconnect the amp and see if the problem persists. It does sound like an issue that would be related to a bad ignition switch though.

Provide as many details as you can. Do you get dash lights or nothing?

I am having a similar prob. Post all the symptoms and lets figure this out.
Do you get dash lights?, does your security light come on and stay on? What happens exactly when you turn the key and hold it for a few seconds?

You don't have to "try" them, we mean do the idiot lights come on with the key? If you turn on the headlights, do they go out or dim severely when in the start position?

I would work off the other suggestions first, but to answer your question, there have been complaints/issues with the starting/charging aspects due to underdrive pulley sets.

a buddy of mine somehow disabled the alarm on my car after it had an episode of not starting and the alarm going off and would not stop. after that i took it to a shop that welded in my subframe connectors. he said that it started fine each and every time. i picked it up this past tuesday and drove it to work and back home wed. with no problems. i parked it wed. evening and wanted to drive it sat. nite but it was DEAD! no dash lights with key on or nothing. i'm lost, don't even know how to describe what is happening because it seems to be different every time. sometimes i hate my car.
