Ignition problem....help

When I turn the key I hear one click but no motor activity. If I wait a few seconds it starts. It is getting worse though, requiring many more tries.
Is the problem with the starter, solenoid, wires?

Thanks

Re: Ignition problem....help

sounds to me like your starter is going out. Its more than likely your solenoid but since the starter and solenoid on are cars come in one unit you will have to replace them all together. I just recently did one on my camaro not too hard but then again I had a life to help me do it. If you are gonna do it in the driveway just put the front of the car up on some jackstands. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Unbolt the start bolts, more than likely two of them and the the main power calbe and solinoide wire and reverse the process to put it back in. Just be prepaired you might have to shim the new starter. You might want to remove the tranny cover that might help you with wiggling that starter out from under the engine.

Thanks. Is that the consensus?

When I turn the key I hear a clunky click sound and the sound of a small motor winding down.
