I want to get my original radio...

When I bought my car, it came with an aftermarket head unit. However, it's acting up on me (I think because it was poorly installed), and I want to replace it. In any case, I want to go back to an original style head unit. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to get one? I went to GM parts direct, but they want over $600. Anyone have a cheaper alternative?

Thanks,
Frank

I've seen them dirt cheap on ebay, anywhere from 10-30 bucks at times.

Is it a CD unit or tape?

I'd prefer a tape, but a CD would be ok too. I want a tape player because I use a tape adapter to play my Ipod through my stereo.

I don't know if the one I got for my 95 works in the 97+ models, but I got mine for $1 plus $10 shipping on Ebay last fall....

Just the stock tape player/AM-FM, mind you.

I am debating getting a cover blank for that since the last owner really did a butcher job on the harness (what's left of it, that is) in my car. There were speaker wires running all over the car exposed...

You pay my cost, lob me a PM, and it's probably yours.

Check your local car audio shops. They might have one for cheap or may even give you one for free, it just depends. They might have one lying around that someone didn't want when they got a new headunit put in, it's worth a try.
