218/224 XE cam. A little surface rust from sitting in the basement. I think I'll buff it up and install it unless an expert says it would be a problem. What do you think?

Clean Up The Journals

Just use some emory cloth to clean up the cam journals that ride in the cam bearings. It should be good to go then.

Those Scotch-Brite or the green 3M pads from the supermarket are very good (and safe) for what you're doing.

Thanks gents. It's going in the car. I took it to work and an old Dodge hotrodder looked at it under a magnifying glass and used a razor on the rust and he said it was good. I'm hesitant to use the green part of the scotch brite sponge though because I know it's abrasive enough to take non-stick off frying pans.

Thanks. It's in the car. My dad had a buffing set that I used. Cam looked good. I should have it running tomorrow. I did find out that it's a XFI cam since there is no XE cam with a 113 LSA like is engraved on it. So much the better, more lift.
