I am new and need some advise

I have a 99 firebird and want to change the exhaust. Not sure what is good or not. It is a 3.8 V6. Should I use Flowmaster or Borla for an exhaust? I heard that Flowmaster gives a V8 sound to the V6 but I know that borla is a better brand and if I should use one of these brands what model. I know that my Catalytic Converter is bad what should I do to replace is? Should I replace it with the same type of converter or should I just straight pipe it and forget the converter all together. If I should repalce it with a straight pipe what should I do with the oxygen sensor. If there is any other advise that anybody might think that I need please feel free to give me some advise. Thank you

Re: I am new and need some advise

first of all, welcome. please notice there is a search button on the red banner toward the top. use that. you can find all of those answeers there. they are still fresh in the v6 section as well....

the borla is a better brand, however, the high $$. (to me) the flowmaster 80series doesnt sound to bad but gets raspy like all mufflers do at higher rpms on the v6. If you put in a stight pipe you will have to buy o2 sims to keep from throwing codes... You can do that, it will make your car sound even louder, but once again more raapy at high rpm's. You can get a high flow cat. if you would like aswell. best place is prob ebay. But once again...its posdsible you might need a sim with them as well. What are the laws in you state? Hope this helps. Please DO A SEARCH; you can find many more answers and opinions there.
