how to quieten valvetrain noise?
how to quieten valvetrain noise?
i would like to quieten my valvetrain noise. right now i have aluminum valve covers and i can hear every little tap. i really dont want want to get composite covers so i was thinking about spraying something inside my aluminum covers. maybe an undercoat spray? does anyone have any opinions on what to use and how well it would work?
Re: how to quieten valvetrain noise?
I really wouldn't spray anything in there it may effect how the oil is going to be moving around in there. With all your mods I don't think you have much choice but to live with it...
Re: how to quieten valvetrain noise?
If you wanted it quiet, you should have left it STOCK!
Anyway, don't use undercoating it doesn't set-up and harden like paint and will be quickly washed off by the hot oil. If you do a WEB search you'll find many type of coatings. However, this is not the best invironment for any coating and they may flake off over time.
A better idea may be to insulate the entire engine compartment.

Re: how to quieten valvetrain noise?
the noise isnt that big of a deal, i just figured someone out there may have come up with a remedy for it. ive seen plenty of cars with roller rockers set a zero lash like mine that didnt seem to make as much noise as mine. i'll just live with it. no biggie
