Hey guys-
So i am going to sell my 98 z28. It has about 130k on it, but runs good. My question is how much more can i sell it for witha fresh rebuild? I need to rebuild an engine for class anyways, but i dont know if it is worth it, or if i should just selll it now so i can get my new car sooner. What do you think?

 

Sell it the way it is. You will not be able to get the money you invested in the rebuild out of the car.

Ya if i'm buyuing used and some guy says oh yeah i rebuilt it at blah blah blah, i'll either ignore that point or depending on what his skills look to be not want the car anymore.

also keep in mind.. the question that would pop up is,

"who did the rebuild?"

and you would answer "I did, for a class project"

No offense, but some people may be like "..." since that means that was your first engine rebuild.

 

Rebuild doesnt add much just because there are so many variables. To some people a rebuild is a piston ring job.. others consider a rebuild to mean a totally new rotating assembly.
You're better off building a smaller engine for class, in high school I did a little two stroke as my rebuild. Got full marks, and it took me the least time.

if its a school porject and you complete it. And if you plan on selling the car just forget about mentioning any engine rebuild.
