how much does cylinder head porting effect emissions
just curious to how some ported or aftermarket heads will cause trouble at the smog stations. Obviously they wil put out more fumes, but how wild can you go before you may not pass.

Ported heads by themselves don't really effect emissions. As long as the EMC can correctly deal with the extra air and correctly compensate for it.
Problem is, almost nobody installes JUST ported heads. If you go too big on the cam you will have problems passing. The general consensis is a CC305, Hot Cam or equivalent is about the biggest you can go and GAURENTEE to pass with a good tune. Beyond that it's a crap shoot.
