How much better is a SS suspension than a TA?

My dad is selling his 2001 SS. Im thinking about selling my 2000 TA and buying the SS.

How much better is the suspension on the SS than my regular TA?

Also im probably gonna have to pay around 3k more for the SS. You think its worth it?

Well you dont have the WS6 but dont expect alot more out of the SS. Performance wise you wouldnt be gaining much either, but if you like the SS and have teh extra cash then go for it, if thats what you want

i think it really depends on the options the SS came with. at least as far as suspension goes.

but you may end up with an LS6 block and you WILL get the LS6 intake if you get the SS.

research it a little more.

The SS has larger sway bars, way harder spring rates and larger shocks with better valving.

I did the same thing. Went from a Z28 to an SS for a couple G's. And I would do it all over again. I loved my Z, but it's just different when I'm driving my SS. just my opinion though. Let's let the "well I'll take my Z28 and mod it and make it way faster than the SS and pay less money ".... thread.

Even without any handling improvements, I would buy the SS in a heartbeat. I love the look of the SS Camaro.

There is a decent handling improvement. If you want great handling though, the SS still doesn't quite get there. Can't you just drive it and find out if the handling feels better to you? The wider tires/17" rims are a big plus, assuming you are on stock rims now.

The car should have Bilstein Level II's which is has way different feel than the suspension on the t/a assuming both are stock..thats my opinion, i got level II's on mine and I love the way they handle and the ability of a strong launch..

The 98-02 SS will still have firmer springs and better shocks. Even if they aren't SLP optioned.

Yeah, don't get me wrong. The SS does have a good upgrade in handling, like I said. What I am referring to is if he is going to be doing any autox or road racing. There are better suspension setups for the camaro and firebird.(35mm front sway bar, Koni SA shocks, New PHR).

The SS is a good step up though.

Re: How much better is a SS suspension than a TA?

Where are people getting this info on 2000+ cars having Z28 springs and shocks?

I have my SS and a set of Z28 Shocks and springs laying in the garage. The Z28 shocks are smaller and the springs are the same part # or manufacture code.
