how many miles would be too high?

Ive been cruising auto trader and seeing 94/95 TAs for like 4-5k(right in my price range)

but they have anywhere from 120-140k on the clock.

Are they worth it with that many miles?
Anyone ever had a shop do a basic engine rebuild?(gotta stay emission legal)
what problems should i expect with those miles?

I have no plans to DD this thing. Just weekend fun.

Im just worried about it blowing if i run it at the track/autox often as well as putting some 3.73s in it and maybe even a blower in its way later future.

If you can find a clean one at 120-170k it should be ok for boltons. Adding boost and cams I think will need a rebuild.

out of curiosity, how fast can you make an LT1 with just bolt ons, gears, and drag radials(assuming the rear end survives a few passes)

An A4 with all the bolt-ons should dip into the 12's.

I just brought my 95 Formula A4 with a 161,000! It was female owned and all the oil change stuff for the last 100k were in the glovebox. If you're looking at an used car, see if you can't get it up on a lift! Check for leaks! Motor, Trans, Cooling Sytem, brakes.... I'll bet you that almost all of them are leaking from the pinion seal on the rear! LOL I looked at 20 of them and EVERY one had that leak! LOL Mine was VERY clean underneath, that's why I brought it even though you can see the DS rear 1/4 had some minor body & paint work done. The rest of the car was sooooo clean I couldn't pass it up. With tax......less then $4,000.

Mine's a 94 with 107K on the clock...runs like a top.

I am pretty meticulous about the maintenance though...but it does run very well.

Thats fine if it leaks from the rear end...more then likely i am gonna end up grenading that weak rear end anyways

just as long as the tranny/engine doesnt leak like a siv

tax? you buy from a local used dealer?

Re: how many miles would be too high?

If it runs right don't worry about mileage.
Mine spun 2 rod bearings @ 125k. Plenty have gone well over 200k without a rebuild. If its a weekend warrior you will want to build a monster later anyways
