One of my buddies drives a Midnight Blue '00 Z28 B4C with an A4. He says when he was looking into what to buy, he read somewhere that you couldn't get an M6 in B4C Camaros. Not sure if that's true or not, but just thought I'd put that in...

Me
There are, I think, five B4C M6 listed for 2001
Someplace in 2001 Chevrolet released the restriction on B4C being sole only to government agencies. I know several GM employees who ordered B4C to get a non-badged Z28. that is probably where the B4C M6 went.

A lot of hype for a Plain Jane Camaro just because its RPO B4C (police package) there is no increase in performance. Not as special as some people think they our.
Example: "I own a B4C Camaro"

I was parked at a car show next to a Indiana State Trooper who brought his patrol camaro.....was an '01 I believe. I had to spend the whole afternoon listening to him spew out how much was different between mine and his and how his made sooooo much more hp than mine. At the end of the day I started my car up open headers and just smiled as he listened to the cam lope

No performance upgrades from the factory on the fourth gen in spite of what that trooper said. They are just a Z without the badging. And yes, some have a higher output alternator (130 amps), but it was a change while in service, not from the factory. Some of the earlier generation B4C actually had performence upgrades, but not in the end.
I have no experience with a Z, so I can't tell you how they compare. This thing has hela stiff suspension though. Reminds me of a C3 Corvette with the solid aluminum body mounts.
Some can be pretty beat up in service, others are well maintained. Like buying any used car, one has to check it out. They will have holes in strange places for shotgun, computer, radio and camera mounts, and sometimes external lights and antennae. The opposite side of that is that the price should be less than a civilian owned Z. Most departments use them as pursuit cars, and they often get assigned to the same officer for the whole time. They are usually take-home cars.
They replaced the valve springs on mine before I got it. I figure the officer who drove it bounced the engine against the rev limiter often. Doesn't bother me any, I don’t baby it either, and I figure if it didn’t come apart on him it won’t for me either. The rear was noisy when I picked it up, but it made the 1K mile trip home OK. Replaced one axle and ALL the bearings. Nice and quiet now.
I figure regardless what I do with it, short of blatant contact with a solid object, the trooper did it before me. I pulled handfuls of grass out of the radiator the first time I had it on the lift. He must have cut across the median a lot. I suspect he drove it faster than I ever will unless I take it to Nevada.
