turn the key, but dont start the car, then push the gas pedal down 3 times hold it on the 3rd time, then when you let go the light should blink letting you know it is reset.
Im not sure if thats how it works on f-bodys(my car doesnt have a light) but I know Chevy trucks are that way

...or read the owner's manual...

The GM Oil Life System calculates when to
change your engine oil and filter based on vehicle use.
Anytime your oil is changed, reset the system so it
can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a
situation occurs where you change your oil prior to a
OIL CHANGE light being turned on, reset the system.
After changing the engine oil, the system must be reset.
1. Turn the ignition key to RUN with the engine
turned off.
2. Press the TRIP/OIL RESET button located on the
instrument panel for 12 seconds. The OIL CHANGE
light will start to flash to confirm that the system is
reset. The reset is complete when the OIL CHANGE
light goes out.

shoebox's quote is correct, but sometimes after you hold in the trip reset for 12 seconds, you have to turn the key back as if you were taking it out, noticed this the other day when it kept coming back, i did the reset, but started the car immediately, it came back shortly after until i turned the key back
