How do I remove the parking brake handle?

I'm installing a Pro 5.0 shifter tomorrow, so I need to remove the center console. So, I need to remove the parking brake handle. I looked at it and could only see a single rivet. Is that the connector? How can I get the handle off before removing the center console?

( I would just pull the console up over the handle to remove it....did that on my 97 Z, and scuffed the parking brake handle BAD I don't want to repeat that mistake!)

So, any help would be greaty appreciated! Thanks in advance

PS...I'm new to Hawaii (definetly not the same as Texas). Any good LS1 shops on the island of Oahu? This info would be awsome as well

If you crawl in from the passenger side and look beside the brake lever you can see the dog that engages the cable to the lever. If you take a small screwdriver and hold the dog from engaging then you can pull the brake handle all the way up so that pulling the console is easy.

Have no idea and shouldn't post, but normally this type of stuff is designed to just push on with a couple dogs to hold it. If there is no outside fasteners, try slipping a thin strip of some kind up from the bottom of the grip on each side and unhook them. Might pull off.
