How to Determine Build Date
I recently bought a 2002 Z28. The door tag indicates 08/02. The AutoCheck description on eBay indicated a build date of August 29, 2002. But being new to Camaros, it was only afterwards I read online that the plant halted production on August 28 (correct me if I'm wrong). My question is (purely out of curiousity, also my wife's birthday is August 28) how can I definitively determine the build date? Was my car finished out in the parking lot?

I was able to pin down the build date on my '97, but I'm fortunate to have the window sticker, invoice to the dealer, and St Therese plant build manifest for my car. My car was invoiced to the the dealer on 8/7/96. The build manifest is dated one day earlier--8/6/96. If any of this paperwork is still with your car it may help correlate your build date. FWIW the build manifest was under the back seat.
Your final date of 2002 my production sounds correct as GM extended building of '02s til the day that new rollover? side impact? regs went into effect. Search posts by Fbodfather who was a high level mgr in the 4th gen program.
The Camaro White Book lists 2G1FPG122172467 as the final VIN for 2002 production. IIRC though the last vehicle off the line was a Firebird, not a Camaro. Comparing your VIN to this one might help narrow down the date range for your car. HTH
