Angry horrible gas pedal response, why?

If I'm in drive and floor the gas pedal, the car will only slowly but steadily accelerate for sometimes up to 5-6 seconds, and then all of a sudden it picks up like I gave it a shot of nos and it takes off.

I know the car did sit for maybe about 2 years, and I dont know how long it might have sat before that.

Any idea's what the problem might be, or what I should replace?

Please help, this really sucks.

Thanks

If it has sat for that long, try basic things like Plugs and wires, cleaning the tb, changing the fuel filter etc.

To clean your TB, first unbolt it carefully and the throttle cables. watch out for the small amount of coolant that will leak out of the coolant lines passing through the TB, now is a good time to do a TB bypass . Then just clean the TB with TB cleanner that you can get at any automotive store, and spray it on and let it eat up that gunk. For the caked on stubbern stuff i just used a toothbrush or soft type bristle brush. Thats all i did and mine was as clean as a whistle . Hope that helps

Today I went to napa and bought a bottle of marvel mystery oil, injector care plus, and valve & lifter cleaner. I hope this helps. Is there anything else I should get?

I hope it dosnt OD if I add all this juice at once

Another thing it could be is bad gas, how many times have you filled up since you started driving after it sat?

Ive drove it just about everyday for about a month now, so its been through a few tanks. The old gas could have gummed some things up.

Today I had 3/4 full tank of gas, and i added 36 ounces of 100% isopropyl alcohol, 10 ounces of marvel mystery oil, 16 ounces of injector cleaner, and to the oil i added 12 ounces of valve&lifter cleaner with a little marvel mystery oil.

I think that should clean most of it up.
