hooking up an amp to factory monsoon?
hooking up an amp to factory monsoon?
is it possible to hook up an amplifier to my stock cassette monsoon? If it is possible, which one is the remote wire and how do i do the rca connections?
might help, from the monsoon sticky on ls1tech:
"You will need a line-level adapter that is available for just a few bucks from any stereo or electronics shop. It will convert the speaker-level output of the head unit to the pre-amp (line-level) input needed by most amps (you can also buy some amps with speaker-level inputs). A common place to mount the amp out of sight is with a mounting board at the back of the car below the hatch lock. There are all kinds of options if you want to show off your amp - check out sites such as subthump.com for some ideas."
If you haven't bought an amp yet, getting one with speaker level inputs would be easiest.

As far as the remote, C3 pin 11 is listed as "(convertible) amplifier sensor" in that same sticky, so that might work. If not, just tap any power source that is hot when key is ON or ACC. Remote sense input on amps draw very little current, so no worry about overloading.
