Hood noises

The passenger side of my hood makes noise when the car is driven it will also squeak when parked at idle.
Using my parts CD, I found part number 14047996 which is a Bumper, hood hinge. Does anyone know where this part goes so that I can verify that it is installed.
Any other ideas on what to do to stop the squeaking?
Thanks.

Re: Hood noises

I"m guessing the "hood bumper" would be a rubber thing on the fender somewhere to keep the hood from smashing down. I've seen them before but can't recall if I have seen them on any f bodies.

Re: Hood noises

I had that axact same problem with an old 88 Iroc. The hood squeeked like crazy.

The problem was the hood bumper was missing on the drivers side. It is a round rubber bumper pad that covers a metal standoff located where the hood, fender and windshield intersect. When the hood is closed it rests on the bumper.

I'm guessing that the rubber cover fell off yours. It is common for them to dry out, crack and fall off.

Re: Hood noises

Figured it out, the hood bumpers need to be adjusted.
