Hitting the dyno today for some kinda baseline numbers

So with the mods in my sig what should i be making? Its an a4 so im not expecting much but everybody that ive talked to including the guys at the dyno i should be making about 250-260 range. Right or wrong? like i said just baseline numbers with my minimal mods. i didnt run it when it was stock cuz i had 2 blown head gaskets, and a bad opti. Just lookin for your number guesses. Sorry no prizes on this one.

Re: Hitting the dyno today for some kinda baseline numbers

Well i just got back from the dyno and im not very happy. not that i was expecting much but my HP numbers are horrible. HP: 213@ about 4700rpm and TQ: 254@ about 3700rpm. The guy at the dyno said that the reason that my hp and tq are so bad cuz im running extremely rich at WOT. The dyno said that my A/F was 10.0 @ WOT. Injuneer, Shoebox etc. please help!!! He said that if i got that corrected then i could bump up about 20-30 hp is this true? Id appreciate any help i can get. Could a tune correct this? Is it because of any of my mod's (although there arent many)? At normal driving the A/F is just fine, but when he went to nail it, it just plumeted to 10.0 right away. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I agree. 10:1 is very rich. You need a custom program for your car. I would expect at least a 20horsepower gain and most likely more.

Get a tune and youll find that missing power. It's proof what a good tune can do. My a/f ratio is the same so I know how you feel.

There are plenty of places in your area that can dynotune your car.

Well the place that i went yesterday was pretty much an import place (went there with a buddy that has an EVO) and they said that they cant do it. I know of F-Body Central in baltimore, MD, but that 3 1/2 hours away with traffic in both directions. Could a mail order tune fix my problem untill i get the time to go to a dyno and have it fine tuned or would i just be better off waiting and finding time in my impossible schedule to have it dynotuned?

There's a local car club called racersden.net. There are alot of very friendly people there that will help you find whatever you need.

Re: Hitting the dyno today for some kinda baseline numbers

alright thanks alot. I went ahead and ordered a tune from MadZ28 but it is just to fix it for the time being. Once i get a chance to go up to Baltimore ill have it dyno tuned. With my mods im just gonna wait till i get my headers and exhaust to go all the way up there. Its a long trip with the traffic.

Re: Hitting the dyno today for some kinda baseline numbers

his major mods are just headers and exhaust. i dont think his problem is a tune.

if hes running that rich its from other reasons,
bad 02s or exhaust leak b4 02s
leak at the intake

there are plenty of things,

with headers u should be more in the 270-280 ish range stock is around 240-260

u def have problems and a tune wont fix it ,

its a good thing to have tho

He doesn't have headers, just heads. Those are real low numbers. Besides that i think some mods like headers should have been before heads, imo.

Re: Hitting the dyno today for some kinda baseline numbers

The only reason I got heads before headers was because my heads got warped when my car blew its headgasked and i didnt have enough money at the time to get headers. The edelbrock heads are very mild and a very close stock replacement. The only flow 17cfm more than stock so i would call them very mild.
