Hey guys, Just picked up a Z

hey everyone, i just picked up a 94 Z today.

I got it for $4,000. Its supercharged, the guy just put the supercharger on it has like 400 miles on it from what I can read from the work order at the shop who installed it.

How are LT1's

I have a 99 Durango R/T 360 5.9L so pretty similar size motor. Will i except better or worse gas mileage with this car I get approx 15 with my Durango highway.

Also I was thinking about selling the supercharger off the car cause I dont want a supercharged camaro right now, i want to go TURBO.

How much can I get for this kit i was told its a vorteck s trim 6-8 psi kit. Its got a new belt and tensioner. He said he paid like 4 grand for it, can I get like 2 for it?

its got some ***** let me tell you, car gets up and goes really quick hhaha

Thanks Guys

Re: Hey guys, Just picked up a Z

if you plan to get any power out of the motor...with that many miles...on boost...start saving for an engine rebuild. the LT1s are well known to not mix with boost very well.

high compression, hyperucraptic pistons....BOOM

welcome though

Re: Hey guys, Just picked up a Z

Why would you want to swap out a perfectly good supercharger for a turbo? Save your time, money, and headaches, and enjoy the car for a while first and learn it.

Just because every joe blow is turboing their car doesn't mean you have to or it's the "best" thing.

What are your reasons for wanting to Turbo it instead of staying with the blower?

Maybe he hates having boost instantly, and likes to wait for it

You'll actually get much better MPG on the highway with the Z. I also have a Durango, and get almost 18 mpg on the highway w/ it. My Z gets 27 mpg.

Re: Hey guys, Just picked up a Z

Your Z will get decent gas mileage as long as you keep your foot off the gas. People are amazed when I tell them what kind of highway mpg I get. Anyways, I would keep the supercharger on the car and forget about the turbo. Thats just my opinion. Correct me if Im wrong but with a supercharger you have instant power at 1800 rpm's all the way up through your power band or until you left off the gas pedal. To me thats like saying I want to sell the supercharger and install a NOS kit instead.
