Help me get my window motor out plz

I followed shoebox's guide on removing. I drilled out all 3 rivets shown on the site and the motor will not budge. Are there other rivets somewhere? Or maybe I have to take something else off not mentioned on the site?
Thanks

I've done a few using shoebox's guide and after the last rivet was drilled the motor just fell to the bottom of the door. Sure you got the right ones?

you prolly did not use a big enough drill bit

after drilling did you physically remove the rivet from the hole

I'm positive I got the correct rivets. I did not remove the entire rivet, I just drilled the center out like the site says and tried to pull the motor off but it won't budge. I'll try drilling out the whole rivet and if that doesn't work, I'm lost.
Thanks so far

Mine was difficult to get out too. I ended up having to sliding a flat blade screwdriver between the motor and the bracket it is mounted to for extra motivation. It fell right out.

thats really what your supposed to do, you drill enough of the center out so that the rivet just falls out, keep going up one step in drill bit sizes until the rivet falls out

This is becoming a pain now... I just attempted to drill out all the rivets by gradually increasing bit size and now the rivets are just spinning with the bits but the motor will still not pop out

As long as the "shell" of the rivet (the part that you are drilling that looks like a washer) is drilled out, you should be able to poke the inner part of the rivet out. Have you ever looked at how a rivet works? Not much to it. I don't recall of anyone ever having this problem. Don't go too crazy with the drill size, as you don't want to increase the size of the mounting hole in the door.

Yeah I'm fairly familiar with rivets and how they work, but I don't understand how the entire rivet can be spinning in the hole, but yet I can't pull the motor off the rivets??

this may sound stupid but this is what i did.. it seemed the easiest to me to drill the rivet partially and take a long skinny nail or something similar and tap it with a hammer.. worked like a charm for me

hope that helps

Don't mean to hijack your thread but has anyone had to try and replace it while the window is stuck down? It went down and never came back up. I am not sure what to do from there.

Can you get us some digital pictures of the problem you are having? You should not be having this much trouble getting those rivets out.

Drill the rivet just big enough and tap it with a punch of the right size. Piece of cake. Now, the rivets that hold the window are a different animal. Much tougher to deal with....however the window motor should be no problem.

Just for safety's sake....you do have the regulator clamped into place right? It may be that you are running into resistance from the spring of the window regulator, if it's not secured properly.

UPDATE:

Problem solved. I ended up taking a dremel and just grinding the visible side of the rivet until it fell off. I actually had the rivets competely drilled out on the inside, it just took that little bit of extra effort to get the motor off I guess.
Thanks for all the help though
