Help with hood spring removal

I'm trying to replace my 1979 camaro hood hinges. I've got the new hinges but I can't get the old springs off the old hinges. I've tried just about every method to get these springs off but they won't budge. I don't want to damage the new hinges by using a crowbar or screwdriver. Is there a special tool I need, or a secret garage method to get these things switched over?

If they are like my 69 and I think they are. When I had the hood off I just pulled up on the hinge to relax the spring and they came right off.

Hood spring removal

Well, after trying a 4000lb come-along winch tied to my truck, I still could not get the springs pulled far enough to remove them- ended up dragging the car across the garage. Sorry Briand069, but a 79 hood, hinges and springs are not the same as your 69. Much heavier hood than the 1st gens, but I appreciate the reply. I've taken the hinges and springs to a custom hot rod shop to have them put on my new hinges- total cost $20.
