Help!!
OK, I started hearing this clicking noise a few days ago. It sounded like it was coming from the front driver's side wheel. It would only click as the wheel was turning, and obviously sped up as the wheel sped up. It continues even when in neutral.
Now, today....The small click turned in to a full fledge very loud banging noise. It made the whole car shimmy when it bangs, and feels as if something about to come loose and fall apart.
I have been under the car and examined each wheel. Nothing appears to be loose or unattached. I am going to have to have it towed I guess tomorrow, but I just wondered if anyone could give me a heads up on what might be going on. Thanks.

It is not the tread or the tire itself. I did recently replace the brake pads but that was a month ago. I have had no problem with it until the last few days. I am having it towed in to a mechanic now. I just hope it is not going to cost me an arm and a leg to get it fixed.
clicking on turning usually makes me think of CV joints, but it could be alot of things.
do you have a sound clip of the noise as that would help.. but if it is gone to a shop let us know the verdict

Maybe universal joint? or U-Joint? those can make that sound however they would come from behind the transmition, the other thing it might have been is a motor mount (most likely assuming the repair guy didnt do something simple like tighten up the lugnuts) or the transmition mount, any of these sound familar?
The universal joint (or U-Joint) is on the driveshaft, the sound should have been coming from behind you in the driveshaft tunnel, however it is possible for sounds to come from weird places, they should have charged you around 120$ for replacing the U-joint (2 hours labor + ~20$ for a u-joint iirc). Its not a very easy job unless you've done it before theres a fiberglass retainer iirc on these vehicles that has to be burnt out, although I did know someone who would hammer them out. If its the style that has a retainer then its not too bad a job to do although its still not the easiest thing in the world if you havent done it before, first time I did a U-joint I ruined 3 joints before I got it right (the needle bearings kept falling when I would put it on)
That had to be what it was. It sounded like it was coming from the wheel, but that was when I was in the car. I didnt stand outside it while anyone else drove it...lol. It had to be the U joint though. I got charged a little over a hundred and it took an hour and a half or so. I thought it was a fair price.
That was not something I would even dream of doing. I am just now starting to learn to do my own things to my car. I have now changed spark plugs and wires, changed all brake pads, and installed my whisper lid. I had never done anything before that.
Anyway, thanks for the help. I just wanted to see if anyone was going to have an opinion before I took it to the mechanic. Appreciate it.
