Hello! (warning, numerous images)

Hello, I have been a long time viewer but this will make my first post on this forum. I have owned a '95 Z28 for about six years now, however about two years ago I had some detonation and I tore one of my head gaskets and filled my cylanders with coolant (wasn't the best day of my life) I payed off the car 2 months later and then continued to save my money. For two years I saved until I felt I had enough to begin working on my car and in the early fall of last year I began work on my car (Before I began this project I had some auto-mechanic experiance).

I started with the engine I pulled it myself using a link I found on this page to Michigan Speed where another camaro owner illustrated how to perform a from the bottom removal. Once I had the engine removed here are some pictures of what condition it was in (remember it sat for 2 years with coolant in its cylanders).

]

I took the engine apart and sent the heads and some salvageable parts to a local machine shop for repair. I also purchased a new block from a junk yard and had it prepared for a 383 stroker motor. Here are some pictures of the short block (I think thats the correct term).

Here are some pictures of the product when the machine shop had completed their work.

I painted the intake, and added some chrome valve covers, plus I got in some pacesetter headers. Here are some images of those modifications.

Recently I had purchased a 54mm throttle body from a company in Austin, Tx. I also cleaned the Fuel Rails and other parts of the engine and then installed them onto the Intake Manifold. I sent of the Headers to Jet-Hot and then when I got them back I installed them. This is the most recent "engine" work that I have completed.

The body needs work, I will have to repair some dents and then the body needs a new paint job. Like the mechanics I'm going to try and do the body work myself. Here are some images of the body.

Along with all the purchases I have made, I bought a custom 4STB transmission from F&B Performance Transmissions in New York. In my future plans I want to get a 12-bolt rear end to handle the punishment and a new driveshaft. After I install the engine and everything is running smooth, after I have the engine tuned ect.. I want to put some nitrous as an additional power adder.

I figured I had been a spectator long enough and it was time I introduced myself. Sorry for the long post.

Chris.

I got an Eagle 383 rotating assembly, the camshaft specs are:
Intake Exhaust
Valve Lift 529 522
.006 281 287
.050 228 234
110 degrees lobe separation

The heads have seen some valve work (unsure as to what they did, I told them to have fun) They also were ported and polished.

Thanks for the pics. I'm planning orange block and intake, and wondered what the TB and WP would look like orange. Looks good, but I think I'll leave those parts aluminum. Just a light coat of HT clear to make them easier to clean without making them too shiny.

Yea, everything that I painted I added about 2 coats of HT clear just so the paint didn't peal off later when its being cleaned or with time.

Looks good man. Mine was once stock as well. Eventually after I grenaded the original LT1, I stepped up over and over again. Now I have more than $60,000 invested. Most would consider this to be insane. The way I see it, I spent my money in something that I still can enjoy, unlike other people who may go out and drop $300 in a weekend of boose and women, and years later have nothing to show for it.

Chris, nice job so far. The lift #s on the cam, is that with 1.5 rockers? Are you going to use 1.6s? When you pull the fuel tank out to clean it are you going to install a better pump?

I believe that the rockers are the 1.5's, when I sat down with my machinist I didn't specify different rockers. What would be the benefit of having 1.6's vs. the 1.5's?.

As for the fuel pump, when I drop the tank I intend to put in a higher output fuel pump. I was looking on the internet at a 255 LPH Walbro pump and was wondering if it were a good product. I haven't decided to purchase it yet.

The Walbro is a good pump, but will require some massaging of the ribs inside the bucket. The Racetronix fuel pump is basically a Walbro, but designed so it drops right in without any modification to the bucket.

Thats a pretty small cam for a 383, unless you converted to the 1.5s, those lift numbers will be even smaller. They are probably rated for 1.6 rockers.
